First Hour, a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner and outstanding broodmare Justwhistledixie, made her second lifetime start at Gulfstream Park on Sunday, January 31.
Coming off a fifth-place finish after a rough break in her debut in the same spot on January 10, First Hour exited the gate on Sunday much more sharply. The Speightstown filly showed more speed in this outing, finding herself in a prime position behind the leaders turning for home.
Ultimately, the experience of the twice-placed Reinagol proved best on the day, but First Hour found her best stride late, running on to finish second. We are excited for the future of this well-bred filly. Catch the replay here.
